[Kesengsaraan@Sarawak] Tangisan dari tanah air yang dirampas

Di Sarawak, untuk setiap keluarga kaum orang asli, sekurang-kurangnya terdapat seorang budak yang tercicir dari persekolahan.

Tanpa infrastruktur jalan tar yang paling asas, setiap hari, seorang bapa kaum orang asli terpaksa berjalan kaki selama 4 jam untuk sampai ke kebunnya bagi memulakan kerja pertanian, dan dia cuma dapat berkerja sebanyak 6 jam sehari kerana dia perlu bertolak balik pada tepat pukul 4 petang, mengambil masa 4 lagi jam untuk berjalan kaki balik ke rumah sebelum langit menjadi gelap. (jalan tar sudah tidak ada, mana dapat lampu tiang TNB??)

Apabila kaum-kaum orang asli di Sarawak dinafikan hak mencari rezeki yang paling asas, kejadian ini bukan sahaja satu isu politik tetapi satu isu kemanusiaan!

[Mac 21] DAP leaders visit Japanese embassy to pay homage to quake victims

On March 21, DAP's secretary general cum Penang Chief Minister Saudara Lim Guan Eng visited the Japanese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to pay his respects to the victims of earthquake and tusnami. Also present were Serdang MP Saudari Teo Nie Ching, Ipoh Barat MP Saudara M Kula, Bukit Bendera MP Saudara Liew Chin Tong, Bukit Bintang MP Saudara Fong Kui Lun, Klang MP Saudara Charles Santiago and Kota Kinabalu MP Saudara Hiew King Cheu.


林冠英(左3)率领行动党一众议员到日本驻马来西亚大使馆拜访伊藤康一(左4);左起为刘镇东、邱庆洲、M·古拉、张念群、查尔斯与方贵伦。

(吉隆坡21日讯)民主行动党今日向日本震啸灾民致上“三S”关怀及祝福,即支持(Support)、同情(Sympathetic)及团结(Solidarity),让目前面对困境的日本灾民知道,现在的他们并都不孤单。

槟州首席部长兼民主行动党秘书长林冠英表示,日本人在面对这项大天灾的表现让人鼓舞,除了临危不乱,更坚守纪律,如此美德值得获全球赞扬。

林冠英今日率领行动党一众议员拜访日本驻马来西亚大使馆后,在记者会上这么表示。

100 years of women's struggles - in commemoration of International Women's Day

Why we MUST walk ?

  • Everyday,  10 women report physical, emotional and sexual abuse;
  • 9,575 statutory rape cases were reported over the past  5 years;
  • Every day, four women are raped in Malaysia;
  • Migrant workers are increasingly abused, tortured and enslaved;
  • Basic, decent minimum wages do not yet exist for all Malaysians;
  • Women in the plantation and informal sectors earn well below the poverty line;
  • Amendments to the Employment Act remove work security and erode the rights women gained at work;
  • The Federal Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land, have clauses that continue to discriminate against women;
  • Amendments to the Islamic Family Law Act have diminished the rights of Muslim women;
  • Representation of women in politics has been less than 10% for the past 20 years;
  • Women labour force participation has stagnated at 47% for the past 20 years;
  • Foreign wives with more than 10 years of residency still denied permanent residence.

We walk because it is our right - to be seen, heard and respected as equals.
