Comment on Complaints for DBKL by John

Posted: 27 Mar 2011 08:30 PM PDT

Dear Yang Berkhidmat,

I am a resident of one of the unit along Jalan 4/27b, Desa Setapak, 53300, Kuala Lumpur. I want to complaint about illegal hawker activities held in Jalan 36/27b, Desa Setapak, 53300 (T-junctioned with 3/27b, 4/27b, 5/27b and 6/27b Desa Setapak) every Tuesday to Saturday morning 5am to 10am. This morning market has done a lot of negative effects to the surrounding housing area and cause a lot of dissatisfactions among local residents:

1. Everyday after the morning market, this area will become very dirty and full of unpleasant smell, there will be garbage and plastic bags all around the places, some of them even leave their hawker tables there and warn the local residents not to park their car there so that they can do business there every morning.

2. While they are having the morning market, they done a lot of public nuisance and annoying noise to the surrounding housing area, it happens when they scream to promote their goods or bargain with customers. Since it is still early in the morning it disturbs the sleep of the residents nearby.

3. The morning market block the whole street, no car is able to pass since it is full of hawker stalls. Other roads that close to it will be very difficult to pass too since many customers cars are parked alongside.

4. Some of the hawkers and customers park their car right in front of the resident front gate, blocking their car to leave the house. Since 7am to 9am is working hours, a lot of residents need to go to work and it makes them late or even makes them unable to go to work.

If these hawkers are legal, DBKL should withdraw their licenses and tell them not to have this kind of market in there anymore since it is very inappropriate to have morning market so close to housing area due to the negative effects stated above.

If they are illegal which is very likely, DBKL should send somebody to fine them and confiscate all their goods as well as equipment so that they feel the pinch. Make all of them promise that they will never come back again.

After above action taken, DBKL should send somebody to come check this particular area from time to time to make sure that no one selling stuffs in there illegally again.

I really wish that this time this complaint will get some serious attention from the authority. You are the peoples only hopes, please, do something. Your action will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Dear YB

Please update us on the reply by the Minister or the relevant agency concerned on the Astro Monopoly. They may defend by saying Astro is not a monopoly as nowadays, we have Unifi. Unifi is totally a different technology as it is wire based (internet) whereas Astro is through Satellite signals. They are also monopolising all the good channels like BBC, Aljazeera, ESPN, Star Sports, All movie channels etc. All Unifi has are all lousy channels to date.

Due to this monopoly, astro is continuing to fleece its customers. As in my comment previously, great example for this daylight robbery is the recent offering of the current World Cup Cricket. They are charging an exorbitant fee of RM499 for one month live coverage (actually, it is not live as they delay the broadcast by 5 to 10 due to whatever requirement…this apply to all the live sport events). The fee is really sky high! For the same event, Singappore TV only charges around SGD19!

How ridiculous Astro can be? Pls stop this Astro Monster from further fleecing innocent Malaysians!

There are too many Singaporeans abusing their social passes. They are working and living in Malaysia permanently. Actions should be aken against hem like what the Singapore government did to Malaysians i Singapore.

I hope that Malaysian Immigration Departmnt will take serious actions against those Singaporeans leaving Malaysia every 3 months are up and to return in a few days later. The Immigration officer could see the patern pf their visist from their passport.
