I Have Not Resigned as Johor DAP Chairman

Posted: 08 Apr 2013 05:41 PM PDT

Press statement by Dr.Boo Cheng Hau, Johor DAP State Chairman on 9th April 2013 in Johor Bahru

I would like to deny the rumour circulating on the internet that I have resigned as the Johor DAP State Chairman. I am still the Johor DAP Chairman and will fight arm-in-arm with Lim Kit Siang in the upcoming general elections  to ensure  victories not only in Gelang Patah parliament, Skudai and Nusajaya state seats but also to achieve the target of at least 10 parliament seats in Johor to ensure Pakatan Rakyat's success in capturing Putrajaya.

I believe the Johor Barisan Nasional will celebrate in joy if I resign as the Johor DAP State Chairman especailly at this juncture of time. Nonetheless, I must disappoint the Barisan nasional by declaring that I am well ready to work arm-in-arm with Lim Kit Siang and all ther PR component parties  to ensure the PR's vciory in Johor and bring about change in the Malaysian political scenarios.

Norman Fernandez, Tan Chen Choon and I merely stepped down collectively as Johor DAP Candidate Selection Sub-Committee according to the democratic convention. We successfully submitted our recommended candidate list at 8:45 am April 3 to the Central Candidate Selection Committee.

Since we were democratically elected by the DAP Johor State Committee to carry out the job, our collective resignation on last Sunday to the DAP Johor State Committee is only a part of democratic process whereby we resigned to ear mark the job entrusted by the State Committee was successfully completed.
I  admit that the process of recommending candidates had been extremely challenging but we  carried it out with full commitment. By resignation from the subcommittee, it also earmarks the process of submitting the absolute prerogative to decide on candidatures to the central selection committee.

We also hope that the Central Candidate Selection Committee would respect our recommendations even though it has the absolute prerogative, according to Party Constitution,  to decide on the candidacies.
