Good news indeed. Malindo Airways is a joint venture between Indonesia’s Lion Air and a Malaysian’s entity. They will start with 12 aircrafts (Boeing 737-800/900). Another 50 in the pipeline to be based in KLIA2 next year. Initialy will ply between Malaysian and Indonesian cities. Once KLIA2 ready and the arrival of 50 new aircrafts, passengers can fly from K Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, Kota Baru, K Terengganu, Johor Baru and other destinations. Heard that many pilots will be on secondment from Mas. Looks like there is a gunuine colloboration there. The President Direktor of Lion Air said that the fare will not be higher than the present LCC and there would not be any hidden costs as presently experienced by many.

NOW EVERYONE CAN REALLY FLY..

Pembukaan baru Malindo Airline adalah satu berita yang baik untuk KLIA-2 dan rakyat Malaysia. Ini akan berhentikan monopoli oleh satu syarikat pernebangan swasta. Harga pernerbangan akan menurun kerana competition.

Saya berharap MAS akan memula jet servis Firefly dengan cepat untuk kepetingan awam dan memberi perkhidmatan kepada rakyat Sabah dan Sarawak.

In this kerfuffle about how MAS is configuring the seating on it’s A380s, has anyone looked at what other A380 operators – among them being Qantas, SIA, Emirates and, if I am not mistaken, Lufthansa – are doing with their aircraft?

Market realities and long-term strategies dictate airlines’ product planning.

Thus servicing a business/banking/financial hub like Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Tokyo or New York requires airlines to adopt different product strategies than those servicing “non-prime” destinations like, shall we say, Kuala Lumpur.

That’s a given in the airline industry.

The more so, given the fierce competition, thin profit margins, high fuel prices and burgeoning inter-hub rivalry that we are witnessing these days.

Yet there are the Pollyannas who believe that everything is fine and hunky-dory with MAS and that competition only exists in the minds of those less enamoured of “flag carriers”……

Now, how misguided is that?

With such attack on the messenger and not the message we Malaysian are indeed blessed that you have not takenover Putra Jaya yet.You have the freedom to say what you like but to become a strong nation based on democratic principles you must learn to attack the message and not the messenger otherwise we will become like the people we are trying to replace.
