Projek “Misi: Bangkok”

Posted: 01 Nov 2011 07:39 AM PDT

=====

A new month, definitely a new beginning for many Malaysians. Or so we can only hope. Our neighbours in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand are suffering, from the carnage of Nature’s fury. Lives lost, land and cities swallowed by the raging water since mid-2011. This period saw people displaced from their homes, crops destroyed and the pinnacle of misery, as mankind fights a losing and painful battle against Nature.

From covering relief work projects in Africa to jump-starting his brand of social activism in Malaysia, Zashnain Zainal (@bedlamfury) will begin the Misi: Bangkok project in Thailand’s metropolis of 12 million people: BANGKOK from 2 Nov to 28 Nov 2011. He seeks to assess the impact of the floods on the marginalised community living in the slums, homeless and on the streets. Disaster relief news usually focus on society itself, mentioning little of the people living in hardship and poverty before the floods.

Seeing as how projects by individuals such as Zashnain should be supported, the Office of the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai welcomes all public donors to donate a total of RM2,000 for the Misi: Bangkok project. This amount will be matched by financial assistance from the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai amounting to RM2,000. It is hoped that with such an amount Zashnain will be able to accord whatever help he can give to the people of Thailand in this hour of their need.

Please send an email to misibangkok -at- gmail -dot- com with money transfer details, and we will acknowledge receipt. A weekly tally of public funds raised will be made at the end of each week, and once the target of RM2,000 has been reached we will stop accepting any further amount for this project.

“We learn more about ourselves by embracing humanity. Keep the prayers and hope alive.”
