[Budget 2012] RM3.5bill slashed from education, training

Amindst the fanfare over the abolition of all primary and secondary school fees, DAP’s Serdang Member of Parliament Teo Nie Ching has highlighted what she said PM Najib Abdul Razak had failed to mention - that almost RM4 billion has been slashed from the federal government’s total development expenditure for education and training.

bershi 1blackmalaysia pc 050509 teo nie chingTeo - who is her party’s assistant national publicity secretary - said the reduction amounts to nearly 30 percent of the 2010 budget announced by Najib, who is also finance minister.

According to the numbers released yesterday, the amount foregone in the move to slash school fees is RM150 million.

RM1.9 billion, meanwhile, has been allocated for all schools, including mission and vernacular schools, while another RM1 billion has been set aside for the betterment of schools premises (RM500 million for SRK, RM100 million for SRJK (Chinese), RM100 mil SRJK (Tamil), RM10 million for mission schools, RM100 million for Sekolah Agama Bantuan, RM100 million to MRSM - Mara secondary schools).

Teo said in the district under the authority of the Klang Municipal Council alone.

张念群揭露财政预算重心错置 . 国防拨款增38%教育却削30%

行动党沙登国会议员张念群今日抨击首相纳吉昨日提呈的2012年财政预算案重心错置，尽管宣布多项惠民政策，但是实际上却削减教育经费高达30%。

此外，政府也会增加国防拨款38%，以及大道公司赔偿71.5%。

NONE因此，张念群（右图）在文告中表示，纳吉所谓的“转型”，其实只不过是将大道使用者的重担转嫁到所有纳税人身上，首相获得了短暂的掌声，人民依然是最大的输家。

“首相纳吉昨天在国会耗费了两个小时提呈2012年财政预算案，是他上任首相以来最长的一次预算案演讲。可是若要剖析这份‘大选预算案’里头种种隐藏着的弊端和裹着糖衣的毒药，所需的时间绝对需要超过两个小时。”

“纳 吉在他两个小时的演讲中尽挑好的说。正如他在去年的2011年财政预算案演讲中宣布，5条收费大道5年不涨价；之后又在今年1月宣布将会重整收费大道以减 轻大道使用者的负担。可结果是，我们发现在2012年的财政预算案中，中央政府所需支付给大道公司的赔偿从2011年的2亿零吉增加到3亿4300万零 吉。足足增加了71.5%！”
