PAS Selective Discriminative Persecution...

It is with deep regret that we have of late seen and observed Pakatan Government arrogance in disregarding basic fundamental civil liberties and political rights of the people.

The Social Welfare Lottery is govern by specific Federal Laws protecting and guaranteeing the freedom and rights to buy and sell such lotteries. It is further provided that these lottery shall not be deem to be gambling or to have contravened the Gaming Act in any way.

The recent arrest by the Majlis Perbandaran Kota Bahru is an act in contravention with Federal Laws and is an infringement of the civil liberties and rights of the people. The arrest and enforcement by MPKB is an ultra vires act by the local authorities causing unnecessary hardship and affecting the livelihood of families who have been selling welfare lotteries licensed and approved by the Federal Laws over many years without obstruction or disturbance.

When there is a specific provisions by the Federal Laws governing these acts , the Local Authority cannot infringe or pass laws or bye-laws in contravention with a higher Federal Laws.

Thus the Local Authority under the Pas/Pakatan Government must be consistent and transparent in exercising their authorities and introducing acts that may infringe the rights and liberties of the people and also that contravene the Federal Laws.

I further challenge the Pakatan Government and its component parties DAP, PAS and PKR to be uniform and transparent in their policies and not act according to their whims and fancies on an ad hoc basis.

I do hereby challenge the Pakatan Government to introduced the same act, arrest and enforcement in Kedah, Selangor and Penang and let the people judge their inconsistent and discriminative actions.

Pakatan has caused grave injustices and hardship in their discriminative inconsistent and lack of transparency in implementing their policies on a trial and error manner.

Pas Exco Member Takiyuddin Hassan's explanation that this actions were taken after consulting the Chinese Community leaders is erroneous and a fallacy.

No community leaders can take away the civil or legal rights of any community guarantee and protected by the Federal Laws.

Respect of the laws must be upheld and ought not to be confused with personal views or party idiosyncrasies.
