| Posted: 16 Sep 2012 07:45 PM PDT  Photo courtesy of Kwong Wah Yit Poh恭送大伯公下山 2议员兴起接力抬神像 二零一二年九月十七日 凌晨十二时四十一分（槟城16日讯）150年历史的亚依淡宝屿仙岩大伯公金身下山9天，供信徒前往膜拜，欢庆一年一度的福德正神神诞。 该庙从1975 年以来，每年农历八月初一都会恭送大伯公金身下山，今年也不例外，周日一早，该庙理事和许多信徒即前往山上准备恭送大伯公下山，惟一场突如其来的大雨，稍 微耽误让这场仪式，恭送大伯公金身下山的信徒也剧减，往年都有约2000名信徒参与，惟周日早的信徒不到500人。 该庙主席庄宝德的带领下，众理事一同恭送大伯公金身下山，亚依淡州议员黄汉伟、双溪槟榔州议员郭庭源及亚依淡国阵协调员张瀚中也受邀出席观礼，并上山恭送金身，众理事一时兴起，更在亚依淡市镇游行，两位议员更在半途接力抬神像游街。 理事原定从宝屿仙岩下山后，即将金身送往亚依淡警察局后方的空地，安置神像供信徒膜拜 至农历八月初九，但临时进行简短游行，下山后带领大伯公金身游街至公民总校旁的交通圈，再回到原定地点    The above 3 photos courtesy of Sdr Ooi Chuan Keat 寶嶼仙岩大伯公寶誕 阿依淡居民迎接金身下山 2012-09-16 18:33
 檳城16日訊）916馬來西亞日是全民共慶馬來西亞成立的日子，但對阿依淡居民而言，今年的916也是寶嶼仙岩大伯公慶讚千秋寶誕的大日子，該區的居民幾乎全數出動，為迎接大伯公金身下山隆重其事。 即使因大雨無法上山迎接大伯公的善信們，也沿途聚集在遊行的路段，或守候在鎮上所設的神壇，只為膜拜大伯公，祈求風調雨順。 迎接大伯公金身下山、在鎮上遊行並設壇膜拜9天的傳統習俗已延續了150年之久，是阿依淡居民每逢農曆八月初一的年度盛事，雖然當天早上下著滂沱大雨，卻也無法阻撓善信虔誠的心，共赴盛事。 理事會主席莊寶德透露，若不是早上下了一場大雨，相信上山迎接大伯公的善信人數將一如既往，達1000至2000人。 此外，阿依淡區州議員黃漢偉、雙溪檳榔區州議員郭庭源及國陣阿依淡區協調員張瀚中也受邀出席迎接大伯公下山的儀式。 黃漢偉指出，寶嶼仙岩和極樂寺大有淵源，迎接大伯公金身下山的習俗也算是一種非物質文化遺產，值得關注保留。 迎接大伯公金身的大隊先到山上的寶嶼仙岩把大伯公恭請出來，然後到山下的分廟進行簡單的祭拜儀式，再沿著阿依淡鎮遊行，之後將大伯公安奉在鎮上的神壇，供善信膜拜，9天之後，善信們將恭送大伯公回到寶嶼仙岩。 Grand homage to Tua Peh KongTHE serene atmosphere on the Bao Yu Hill in Air Itam, which houses the Bao Yu Xian Yan Tua Peh Kong Temple was replaced with the clanging sounds of cymbals to mark the deity's birthday celebration. Temple chairman Ch'ng Poh Teik said for the past 150 years, the Tua Peh Kong deity has been carried by devotees on a sedan chair to make his annual journey down from the hilltop cave temple to the open space behind the Air Itam market. He said this is done on the first day of the Chinese eighth lunar calendar of every year. "After the Tua Peh Kong deity is brought down from the temple, we will 'invite' the deity to celebrate the deity's birthday for nine days," he said. Ch'ng added that among the highlights of the nine-day celebrations are the religious birthday prayers, cultural stage shows and the 'ko tai' stage performances, which are held to entertain the deity. Yesterday, hundreds of devotees braved the early morning showers to make their journey up the hill. Among those who was seen slowly making her way up the slippery slope was grandmother Chin Lai Chu, 55. "I have been coming up every single year for the past 15 years to celebrate the deity's birthday. "It is not that tiring because I love hiking but we have to move slowly because it is very slippery," she said. At the end of the nine-day celebration, the devotees would then usher the deity back to the temple. On the 12th day of the Chinese eighth lunar calendar, there would be a 150th Bao Yu Xian Yan Tua Peh Kong birthday dinner celebration at the SJK (C) Shang Wu. The temple was built in 1862 by a Taoist monk 'Miao Lean', who first set foot in Air Itam with the aim of spreading the teachings of Taoism. |

The 34-year-old construction worker, who earns only RM900 per month and has to support both his ailing parents, was ordered by the court to move out from his rented home in Perak Lane after being unable to settle his rental for about two years. After spending three nights by the roadside near his former residence, Tan and his parents can now rejoice as he was offered one of the seven Rifle Range flat units under a refurbishing project, undertaken by the Penang Master Builders & Building Materials Dealers Association. "When my landlord asked for a court order to ask my parents and me to move out, I was at my wit's end as we did not have anywhere else to stay. "I could not afford to pay rent, which was RM350 per month, as I had to pay for my parents' medical fees and other expenses such as food," he said. "Even after I sold off my motorcycle, it was not enough. A friend of mine recommended me to seek assistance from Sungai Pinang assemblyman Koid Teng Guan, who helped me move in into one of the units at Block J of Rifle Range flats," said Kim Swee. He said his adopted father, Thor Yu Aun, 64, is suffering from a stroke while his mother Tan Saw Lean, 75, has symptoms of old age illnesses. Association president Lim Kai Seng said the refurbishing project, costing over RM10,000 per unit, was part of the association's corporate social responsibility (CSR) project. "We hope those who are without homes or are in need of a shelter will be able to benefit from our CSR project," he said before presenting a mock key to Kim Swee in Komtar recently. State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said priority was given to the poor and needy as it was the state government's effort to provide homes to them at a minimal rental cost. "The state government is repairing all of the units in blocks E and J in Rifle Range so that we can rent them out to the needy. "This is also our initiative to take care of the poor," said Wong. The two 16-storey blocks with 170 units were once used as quarters for the military in the 1980s and 1990s. The state is currently subsidising the rental of such units, which normally cost between RM250 and RM300 in the market, by charging only RM90. |
