Why Can't DAP be Consistent In Safeguarding Kelantan Minorities Rights ? Posted: 18 Jul 2011 12:56 AM PDT Dap political posturing is an attempt at numbing the sensitivity towards PAS Islamic state agenda. Islamic Laws including state laws and moral policing will be gently introduced with subtlety by PAS. This political intent is entrenched in PAS constitution and will remain PAS primary political agenda. In Kelantan whereby the minorities are marginalized, Pakatan had successfully allowed PAS to get away with laws infringing into the minorities rights and freedom. Despite camouflaging the Islamic State by declaring a Welfare State instead , PAS had in their Malaysia Baru Declaration (immediately prior to Tenang by-election) stated that Islam and Malay will remain their core pursuit to appeal to the Malay/Muslim voters come any by-election or general election. In the meantime, when there is no imminent elections, PAS will continue to test the water with their laws and intent that will caused hardship to various sections of the society. PAS with the assistance of DAP will play to the gallery by introducing unpopular laws and regulations but will backtrack upon being taken to task. This is tantamount to an attack and retract in the art of warfare whereby if the attack is successful, there will be no retractions. If attack is unsuccessful, PAS will backtrack and DAP will emerge as a hero. MCA would like to take DAP to task in the case of Pakatan's Kelantan Government that have openly disregarded the protection rendered by the Welfare Lottery's Act allowing the right to trader and buy these welfare tickets. PAS had infringed into the constitutional rights and liberties guaranteed by Federal Statutory Laws that have been debated and passed by the Parliament despite strong protest from PKR, DAP and MCA. If DAP is to take credit for PAS backtracking on the ban on entertainment outlets in Kedah , they must also account to the people what actions have they taken to stop Pakatan Government in Kelantan from infringing into our rights and liberties guaranteed by the laws. DAP Chairman Karpal Singh, Theresa Kok etc had said that the ban on welfare tickets in Kelantan is ultra-vires and unconstitutional but they have chosen to close an eye thereafter. Is it that the Chinese and others electorates in Kelantan is too marginal and insignificant. As such , DAP had chosen to sell off their rights and freedom despite such rights are expressly provided by the laws? Ti Lian Ker Chairman MCA NGO Bureau |
