Posted: 06 Aug 2011 07:25 AM PDT

Lokasi: Serdang Heights, Seri Kembangan

Present at Serdang Heights this afternoon with the project director of Pesat Bumi. Have been witnessed the handling of Late Delivery Penalties to 71 purchasers together with Seri Kembangan State Assemblyman cum State Exco Saudara Ean Yong Hian Wah.

[Malaysiakini@TBH RCI Report] Bar council: Probe 5 MACC officers for culpable homicide

Posted: 05 Aug 2011 06:37 AM PDT

Unlike the royal commission of inquiry which found that political aide Teoh Beng Hock was driven to suicide, the Bar Council, which took an active role in the RCI, had recommended to the panel that five Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers be investigated for culpable homicide.

azlanThe five officers are former Selangor MACC deputy chief Hishamuddin Hashim, Selangor MACC investigations chief, Hairul Ilham Hamzah, investigating officer Mohd Anuar Ismail, interrogation officer Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus and Klang MACC assistant enforcement officer Zulkefly Aziz.

This is in contrast to the RCI finding which only implicates three officers namely Hishamuddin, Anuar and Ashraf.

The Bar had recommended that the five be investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing the death of Teoh via negligence.

Section 304 of the Penal Code, prescribes punishment of between 10 to 30 years jail and a fine under the amended law.

Under 304A, they are liable to face a two-year jail term, a fine or both if found guilty.

The Bar Council's recommendation is contained in the 337-page submission to the RCI panel which was finally released to the Malaysian Bar members today. This follows a meeting held last night to discuss the matter.

The submission added that Hairul and Anuar had admitted in hindsight, they would not have supervised the investigations in such a questionable manner as they had as the Selangor MACC investigations chief and the investigation officer in charge of the investigations, and that they were responsible for witness or suspects under their custody.

[Malaysiakini] Penang voters increase by 32,000 in three months

Posted: 05 Aug 2011 06:27 AM PDT

- Susan Loone

Following the allegations that over 1,500 permanent residents were allowed to be registered in the latest supplementary electoral roll, Penang Pakatan Rakyat today claimed that the state saw a sudden surge of 32,000 voters in just three months.

NONEA staggering 1,400 postal votes were inserted into Batu Maung state constituency, currently held by state exco member Abdul Malik Kassim from PKR.

Between 2008 to 2010, the Malay-majority seat only saw an increase of 2,200 voters.

The influx of voters was revealed today during a press conference called by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, attended by Abdul Malik and Deputy Chief Minister Mansor Othman.

In the past, said Lim, there would usually be increases of about 10,000 new voters, but the triple jump in figures was "suspicious" and raised concerns "that there may be fraud".

"(The) general election is approaching. If the increase in voters is about 200-400, it is acceptable, but now there is an increase of three times (the amount). How to win?" he queried.

Ghosts hungry for votes

Lim said the hike in voter figures happened in three months, and recounted recent allegations surrounding 'Mismah' and more than 1,500 permanent residents were registered as voters.

"In this world, we have instant noodles, but in Malaysia, we have instant voters," Lim joked.

"This month is the hungry ghost month for the Chinese, but what we are more afraid of is phantom voters," he added.
