Ti Lian Ker (Thinking Aloud)

Miss Mah's Gate and Lie Nahas....

Posted: 16 Aug 2011 01:50 AM PDT

Recently I have confided to leaders that I may not want to be a candidate for the next GE 13 to prove a point, that MCA leaders are not hard up to hold public office. Truth is...I have been a Wakil Rakyat since the age of 32 and had been performing well with a good track record. I do not want to throw away the legacy that I had been a popular YB with the highest majority in Pahang election history. Further i am disheartened by the blatant lies and distortions against BN and her personalities.

I am reaching 50 and am wondering whether I should continue to serve the state under the present circumstances whereby people have been taught to be disrespectful, uncouth and irresponsible in both words and deeds....In the past people by and large are more respectful, well mannered and fair.

I am not going to stomach all the lies and distortions dished onto BN and all things associated with BN just because our voters are being provoked and incited to be rough and tough with BN leaders in particular. However Pakatan politicians had been leniently let off...they escaped with acts of irresponsibility , lies , non-accountability and received political immunity despite being caught on camera.

Pakatan had been at liberty in lambasting the Government, its officials and personalities with false allegations and distortion of facts with no hesitation, conscience or remorse. No BN leaders worth their salt is being spared.

it is a fact that they are able to use their new found power in the unethical new media had made many of these irresponsible politicians and politicians wannabe arrogant, irresponsible and distasteful.

The people must realize that allowing this mode of kicking up the dust purely with a destructive agenda is not part of a healthy democratic process. It will definitely bring about a negative vibration and a destructive culture akin to anarchy that is naturally appealing to the youngsters who are more incline towards the icon and blasting culture today.

This readily available impressionable minds together will their ability to influence their lesser educated parents naturally does allow Pakatan politicians an advantage in the political non-level playing field today.

Dap had been successfully in spewing fire of lies and resort to racist taunts against Mca with labels such as running dogs , make chinese angry , kow-tow , Umno slaves etc and they thrive on issues of latent dissatisfaction amongst the Chinese community such as quotas, privileges and religious advantages provided by the Constitution and institutionalized under the legal jurisdiction of the Malay Rulers In Council etc.

Dap had continuously incited the Chinese community on MCA's failure to bring them to an equal footing with the Malays on the economical/political front for over 53 years.

However DAP had quietly conceded the same to PAS/PKR in their Buku Jingga and PAS Malaysia Baru declaration has no mention of DAP's Malaysian Malaysia at all. The recital and emphasis had been race and religion specifically and expressly and in no way along the promises dished out on the ground by DAP to the naive and gullible.

In fact DAP who had been criticizing MCA for making compromises ( in the name of national interest and integration) such as making Bahasa Malaysia as the national language , rampant building of Mosques , wearing the songkok etc had now bow lower than MCA. Ronnie Liu who was known to be a Chinese chauvinist and would be the first to lambast MCA; had even gone beyond wearing the official head gear to the extent of wearing the baju Melayu to please his Malay electorates despite making an issue of MCA leaders wearing the official head gears.

PAS who had previously attacked Umno for working with kafirs had bend backwards to tick off Umno for certain practices that have been cultivated and preached by PAS all this while in the name of Islamic authority. They have conveniently changed their stance similar to the forgotten Amanat Hadi that forbids Umno from working with kafirs.

Time had changed and PAS and DAP had shifted their goal post leaving Umno and MCA to do the balancing on the post....

With regard to the Mismahgate , I am amazed at how pro-Pakatan media blatantly and arrogantly reported lies without bothering to follow journalistic ethics or practicing some due diligence. News and allegations were played up to the hilt like the false allegations of the RM1.8 million Tourism Ministry Facebook.

After the fire had burnt and damage done, Pakatan will conveniently moves on to other issues, spins and lies. The Government will be left to clean the mess or sweep the dust that have been violently kicked about by Pakatan personalities or fake cyber identities that will be conveniently given prominent space and reports in the Pakatan new media. All these non-ethical practices and news had given a negative impression of the government locally and abroad. It will definitely cause great damage to the image of the nation as well.

Another example of unethical media coverage of lies and distortion is the case of Lynas in Kuantan. Although MCA had registered their reservation and objections on the industry, we have been blamed as a party. It cannot be denied that the people's representative ( from Pakatan and BN ) were collectively responsible when they were briefed and supported the Lynas factory and allowed it to be built near completion for 3 years before taking position to object radically.

If we were to do some research on the unfair media reports, allegations that the project was approved within days ; failure of EIA Reports ; construction made in a hush-hush manner; insinuations of corruption etc etc we can see that the reports were one sided and calculated to incite the people and embarrass the Prime Minister and the Menteri Besar in an unfair manner. Regards were not given to the technical , legal and national issues at stake. Neither the Prime Minister nor the Menteri Besar can act arbitrarily or irresponsibly based primarily on street protest as there are procedures, technicalities and implications to be considered.

MCA had taken the approach of objecting based on law, facts and science in a responsible manner. PKR and MP for Kuantan had instead chose the path of blasting irresponsibly and advocating street protest.

This was calculated by YB Fuziah to to drum up support against the government after her failure to serve the Kuantan folks diligently since being elected as MP.

The approach of creating havoc without providing a solution as advocated by Kuantan Member of Parliament was a result of her failure to discharge her parliamentary duties by raising specific parliamentary questions on the progress and reports on Lynas or even moving an emergency motion in the parliament.

Why not ? The opposition were voted with more than 1/3 MPs to check on the Government and more than 1/3 representation is indeed very powerful . By doing so she would have successfully bring the issues to the right forum to be discussed in a responsible manner....not passing the buck to the Rakyat to raise objections in the streets after a honeymoon of 3 years by a supposedly conscientious Member of Parliament.

Mismah: Why do they say such things about me? - Malaysiakini: "Mismah, 47, whose real name is Nismah Naim and who had figured as a purported Indonesian permanent resident whose status was purportedly changed to 'citizen' within a mere hours, has denied that she had been paid by Umno or BN to come forward to clear the air.

mismah in sinar harian 140811 front page story imageIn a report by Malay-daily Sinar Harian featuring the cleaning lady who had arrived in Malaysia in 1982 and first worked as a construction labourer, Nismah was quoted as expressing "disappointment" with claims that she had allowed herself to be used by Umno.

"I didn't know much about it, as I don't read the newspapers... Why do they say such things about me?" the resident of Desa Coalfields, Selangor, told reporters when met at her house.

Last week, 'Mismah' was found to have been categorised as a permanent resident on the National Registration Department (NRD) website despite being listed in the Election Commission's electoral roll.

Hours after a report on the matter was published, Nismah was subsequently 'upgraded' by the NRD to Malaysian citizen.

The NRD later clarified that Mismah was granted citizenship in January this year after having been a permanent resident for 29 years.

Selangor Umno deputy chief visits Mismah

Pakatan Rakyat has claimed Mismah to be just one of more than 1,500 cases nationwide and has demanded that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak call an emergency parliamentary sitting this month to debate the issue.

NONEReiterating that she had undergone all the procedures needed to qualify for permanent residence, Mismah denied any irregularities in her applications and efforts to become a PR-holder and, subsequently, citizen.

"I followed the regulations. It is not like some people claim," said the native of Bawaen, Indonesia,

Also at her home yesterday was Selangor Umno's deputy liaison chief Noh Omar, who blasted the opposition for accusing Mismah of having been bought off.

The claims show the opposition have a narrow mind-set and are afraid of their own shadows, Noh was quoted as saying.

"Today, we came to meet Mismah at her own house to hold up the truth, on top of the lies of the opposition and to see the documents that she holds as true.

"We seek justice, for there has to be proof that Mismah received her citizenship on Jan 31, 2011, after applying twice according to the set procedures," he added.

Solve 'Mismah-gate' or we march, says PAS Youth
PAS' youth wing today demanded that the Home Ministry take responsibility for the Mismah "conspiracy", or else they will take their grouses to the streets.PAS national youth elections director Mohd Sany Hamzan said they are giving the government two opportunities to explain the controversy surrounding permanent resident status holders listed on the electoral rolls and their sudden conversion to full citizens after the issue was highlighted in the media."We are giving the Home Ministry seven days to come up with a response. If they do not respond, we will raise the issue with the prime minister. If again there is no response, we will organise a public rally," he said after presenting a memorandum on the issue to the Home Ministry.Mohd Sany did not give a specific time frame as to when they would hold the rally should the government remain silent on the issue, though he indicated that it could be held after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.The memorandum, addressed to Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, outlines five demands from PAS;
For an in-depth investigation into the issue,
For stiff action to be taken against those found to have betrayed the country,
Launch a full-scale effort to avoid a recurrence of the issue,
Expose those behind this "conspiracy" to serve as a lesson to potential traitors,
To protect the nation's security and sovereignty from such threats.
The memorandum was received by a special officer to Hishammuddin at the ground floor of the Home Ministry building. This is the latest move by PAS Youth in pursuing the matter, after Malaysiakini exposed at least one case involving an individual named Mismah – who was initially listed as a PR holder but was included on the latest update to the country's electoral rolls. 'Full citizenship within hours'Her status was however changed to full citizenship barely hours after the issue made the headlines, with the Election Commission explaining that it was a mere technical glitch where the National Registration Department had failed to update its data despite Mismah having received full citizenship since January this year.Mohd Sany pointed out that checks conducted in Selangor, Perak, Penang, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu yielded similar cases where PR holders were registered as voters, with at least 1,100 identified in Selangor alone. He also blasted the excuse of technical issues given by the EC, stressing that no mere office boy or clerk would be able to do something of this magnitude without explicit support from their superiors and those in power."PAS Youth believes the act of changing the PR status to citizenship is a political one aimed at preserving the power structure of the ruling party," he said.
