Statement by Sivarasa: Americk's revelation re: SD2

Posted: 18 Mar 2013 06:59 AM PDT

Yesterday, Malaysia Chronicle, a popular news-website, carried an article by Deepak Jaikishan.  The article stated some very serious allegations against Prime Minister Datuk Seri  Najib Tun Razak.
Deepak alleged in writing that an unnamed person had actually prepared a statutory declaration stating that he had been instructed to kill Altantuya by his immediate superior, and that an immediate superior had taken instructions from Najib.

He also said that the unnamed person changed his mind after seeing private investigator Balasubramaniam's second SD.

Najib & Rosmah "belled"
In so saying, Deepak had finally belled the cat by actually speaking in writing for the first time the whispers that have been circulating in this country from the time of the murder in October 2006 regarding the alleged involvement of Najib and his spouse in the high profile murder of Altantuya.
His statements are sufficient for the relevant agencies, the Attorney-General's office and the police to immediately re-open the murder investigation and record a full statement from him.

No action from them will mean a continuing conspiracy to hide the truth. It is also in the Prime Minister's interest that his name is cleared if Deepak's statements are indeed false.
Secondly, Deepak again reiterates the involvement of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in the process of the making of the second SD done by Bala.  He repeats, amongst other things, that he was instructed by her to remove "certain facts and certain spicy details in (sic) the affair between Najib and Altantuya".

The Malaysian public will need to hear from Rosmah what her riposte is to this.

Proceeds from Glomac Tower
Thirdly, Deepak alleges that he made payments to Najib and Rosmah from "the proceeds of Glomac Tower to a subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House" and this evidence was recorded by one Dato Jamidan, a senior director with MACC in 2011.

MACC has to explain immediately to the Malaysian public whether this allegation of payment to Najib and Rosmah is true, and if so, was it for any corrupt purpose. We also await the response of the MACC on Deepak' allegations supported with documents that he had made expensive presents in diamonds and jewellery to Rosmah.

A serving Prime Minister going to the public for an electoral mandate to govern cannot be the proverbial ostrich with its head in the sand in respect of these very serious issues.  Deepak's statements are specific.  Malaysia needs specific answers.

Silence will be taken to mean that Deepak's allegations are credible and with basis.

PKR not involved in first SD
I take this opportunity to also correct a misstatement in the first paragraph of Deepak's article where he says( perhaps because of incorrect information given to him ) that I and other Pakatan leaders had advised on the content of Bala's first SD.

I repeat what has been said on record by Bala's own lawyer Mr Americk Singh Sidhu. Bala's first SD was prepared by Americk Singh with full detailed instructions from his client.
It would be insulting to Americk as a senior lawyer to suggest that I or any other lawyer or politician for that matter could influence the contents of what I understand to be a document that he had taken careful, conscientious and considerable time and effort to prepare.

I also reiterate that no money was promised or paid to Bala by myself or any other Pakatan leader for the making of Bala's first SD. Americk Singh is also fully aware of that.

Finally, the Malaysian police had in 2009 recorded full statements from myself and Americk Singh and other persons pursuant to allegations that Bala's first SD was made under duress.  No further action was then taken by the police or the Attorney-general in respect of those allegations.

Apa beza kes skandal projek lembu fidlot Sharizat (Ketua Wanita UMNO Malaysia) dengan kes skandal pemberian  AP permit import kereta Rafidah Aziz (bekas Ketua Wanita Umno Malaysia).

Shahrizat: Kenapa saya perlu minta maaf?

"Kenapa saya perlu minta maaf?

47th DAP Anniversary Statement By DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng Released In DAP Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur on 18 March 2013

DAP celebrates the 47th anniversary of the birth of our party on 18.3.1966 for the first time in Johor, the critical new frontier that PR must win to bring about Ubah or Change. Inikalilah! It is now or never!

For the first time in our nation's 56-year history, change is possible.
For the first time ever, Malaysians have a real alternative.
For the first time ever, there is now a clear and tangible choice between a regime that is undemocratic, corrupt, racist and bankrupt, versus one that is clean, practices integrity, values freedom and human rights and is proven to be competent, accountable and transparent.

But one thing for sure, change will not come easy. In the last few weeks we have already seen cases of hooliganism by BN thugs, when even the Chief Minister's Office in Penang can be attacked by an unruly mob and Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's bus was stoned and pelted when he was inside the bus, resulting in injury to a few people. This is only the beginning – BN's desperate tricks will only get worse.

DAP and PR's biggest challenge is still electoral fraud by BN and biasedness by a partisan Election Comission in the coming general elections. The electoral rolls are still not cleaned up with the astonishing 28% unidentifiable voters or 140,000 unaccounted for voters in Selangor. Is this the 28% "handicap" built in to the electoral process in benefit BN?

Further the constituency delineation is gerrymandered in an undemocratic manner to benefit BN. The smallest parliament seat in Malaysia, P125 Putrajaya, has 15,308 voters as of Quarter 3, 2012 while the largest seat, P109 Kapar, has 142,419 voters. The number of voters in the largest seat is 9 times that of the smallest seat.

In other words, one vote in P125 Putrajaya is roughly equal to 9 votes in P109 Kapar. This is a gross violation of the 'One Man One Vote' principle where one person's vote should have the same weightage and power as another person's vote.

For this reason PR is starting at a disadvantage as we have to win more than our fair share of the popular vote to win 50% of the seats, or else BN will steal the election. The disparity between votes received by BN and seats won by BN at every election is clearly shown below.

In other words PR has to win more than 51% of the popular votes, not 50% of the votes to win Putrajaya. It is therefore extremely important that we now put aside whatever minor differences we may have and rally united behind our party, and behind the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "There is enough in this world for everyone’s need, but there is not enough in this world for one man’s greed." Corruption by BN is deeply entrenched in Malaysia. Whilst making corruption history is amongst the highest priority of PR, the most difficult task is to give our young hope of a brighter future. In other words, the greatest responsibility of Ubah is to both prepare the future for the young and prepare the young for the future

An education system that is available, accessible and affordable must also inculcate a culture of excellence. Instead we have increasing mediocrity with the drop in Malaysia's ranking in the Trends in International Math and Science Study (TIMSS) 2011 from 20th to 26th in the Mathematics and from 21st to 32nd in Science. This confirms the 2009 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) that the competency of 15-year olds in Malaysia was 3 years behind the international average.

Malaysians as a nation face a talent cliff that can hamper economic growth and cripple our efforts to transform ourselves into a high-income, knowledge-based developed country. Unless we grow and build human talent, retrain and retain them as well as attract new talent, we face the risk of not just falling behind from new developed economies like Singapore and South Korea but also being overtaken by neighbours like Indonesia and Thailand.

PR offers not just free education but will abandon political connections in favour of choosing the the best and brightest. At the same time, PR will build learning centres to give tuition to academically weak students so that we do not only focus on the best but can create a rising tide of supporting talents of high standards.

To succeed, Malaysia needs to be freed from the shackles on our mind imposed by a BN that refused to let us think. The greatest gift a government can bestow on its population is not cash handouts but knowledge and freedom from fear. Plato said, "We can forgive a child who is afraid of the dark, the real tragedy is when men and women are afraid of the light".

Let us UBAH and Change to shine the light on all four corners of Malaysia!

Lim Guan Eng

—-BM Version —
Kenyataan Media Ulangtahun ke-47 DAP oleh Setiausaha Agung DAP, Lim Guan Eng di Ibu Pejabat DAP, Kuala Lumpur pada 18 Mac 2013.

Tanggungjawab Terbesar UBAH Adalah Untuk Menyediakan Masa Depan Untuk Anak Muda Dan Mempersiapkan Anak Muda Untuk Masa Depan.
It is now or never!

Sustainable Development Is A Primary Responsibility Of Good Governance To Prepare The Future For The Young.(en/cn)

Opening Speech By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for Penang Institute Conference On: The Asian Challenge of Sustainable Development At G Hotel On 18.3.2013.

Let me begin by congratulating the Penang Institute for organising the 5th Penang in Asia lecture, featuring yet another prominent individual – scientist and environmentalist Dr Rajendra Pachauri. On behalf of Penang, may I bid a warm welcome to Dr Pachauri.

Thanks to Dr Pachauri's work with the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Noble Peace Prize in 2007 with former US Vice-President Al Gore, environmental issues have become a high priority in the world today. It is beholden on all humanity to ensure that we do not squander away the wealth of our earth, especially for the sake of our future generations. As I always like to say, we do not inherit the earth but merely borrow it from our children. It is our sacred duty to return it to our children better than when we were first entrusted to it.

All over the world, sustainable development is beginning to become something of a mantra. Here in Penang, sustainable development has not only been our commitment but also our guiding principle. Penang's vision of the future is a "Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Healthier Penang", as only then can we be No.1 in Malaysia.

Penang is the first state in Malaysia to join global cities around the world to ban free plastic bags every day. It was a controversial risk which the state government took, not only against the plastic industry but also against a deeply entrenched local affinity for plastic bags. Though resisted at the beginning, it has now become a source of pride for Penangites as they tow their environmentally friendly shopping bags everywhere.

After the success of our "No Free Plastic Bag" campaign, we have taken the movement a step further by also banning the usage of polystyrene containers and packaging last year. Besides that, we have also introduced no-smoking zones, No Car Day on Sundays, introduced a conservation surcharge to limit water waste and managed to achieve the highest recycling rate in the country at 24% by 2012, far surpassing the country's recycling rate target of 20% 7 years from now by 2020.

To encourage healthy lifestyles, we have hosted numerous events from triathlons to the unique 4-stage "Penang Run", over hills and flatlands that will take place over four separate occasions with a total distance of 77km around the Penang island. At the same time, Penang also aims to be a first cycling state in Malaysia with the construction of a round-the-island bicycle lane as well as over 200 kilometres of cycling tracks across SeberangPerai.

In our drive to ensure a Cleaner, Greener, Healthier and Safer Penang, we have also made decisions against big business such as closing down the Lee Rubber factory in Paya Terubong, once the largest rubber processing facility in Malaysia, that emitted a foul smell complained by residents over 25 years.

Our efforts have of course bore some fruit. For the first time ever, Penang has now been recognised by ECA International as the most livable city in Malaysia and the 8th most livable city in Asia. Besides that, Penang was recently selected as the No. 4 top place for retirement in the world, becoming the only Asian city in the top 8.

In order to further promote our green policies and facilitate all the green initiatives in Penang, we established the Penang Green Council (PGC) in 2011. PGC seeks to enable, empower and enrich all stakeholders to practice sustainable development that protects the environment and quality of life. In Malaysia, only Penang have a set of government driven incentive schemes that provides a platform for schools, business or private sectors that are genuinely promoting sustainable living to showcase their green products, services and technologies, and house-to-house education for the communities.

In creating low carbon sustainable environment, the state government has also provided free CAT bus services around the George Town heritage enclave. We have also provided a Park & Ride service through Bridge Express Shuttle Transit (Best) buses which are free shuttle services to and fro between Seberang Perai, the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Area and Balik Pulau.

Unfortunately public transport is the sole prerogative of the federal government. Traffic congestion is a direct result of the under-investment by the Federal government in public transport and basic infrastructure as well as mind-boggling situation of having more vehicles(2.3 million) than people(1.6 million) in Penang. This has resulted in a public transport modal share of 3% state-wide and 8% in George Town.

We are thinking outside the box by offering Rapid Penang RM10 million every year to provide free bus services throughout Penang during peak hours but was rejected by the federal government. We have no choice but to build highway roads much as we like to move people and not vehicles.

On 11 Dec 2011, Penang municipal council has launched Car Free day in George Town. The state government is also working on making Penang the first bicycle state in Malaysia with a total of 200km of bicycle lanes for both the island and the mainland, out of which, 120km is on the island.

For these green efforts, in 2012, Penang has been nominated as the first small city to join The Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC), an environmental initiative aligned to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). These are still baby steps as many aspects of environmental policies are the prerogative of the Federal government such as renewable energy.

Therefore, we hope that we will able to formulate and implement more policies, rules and regulations that will bring greater benefit to our environment and people in Putrajaya. But of course, green environmental policies are only one side of the coin.

Sustainable development must also come along with a sustainable economy. In this, we have adopted a 3-pronged strategy by firstly encouraging the setting up of clean, high-tech, high-skilled, knowledge-based industries by MNCs and secondly, by helping to transform and develop SMEs and thirdly by setting up an SME Village to let them purchase land or rent ready-built factory buildings.

The effort to transform our SMEs have been driven through the state government's initiatives such as the Penang SMART Centre, set up in 2009 to provide consultancy and services to SMEs in order to help them to develop their businesses, as well as the RM40 million Penang SME Centre in Bayan Lepas, which is designed to be an incubator for new SMEs as well as to move existing SMEs up the value chain. As a result, I am proud to inform you that 4 out of the 6 National SME Innovation Awards in 2012 were won by Penang SMEs.

At the same time, we also recognise that sustainable development is inextricably linked to the question of energy. Thus, as part of our effort to ensure efficient and sustainable energy use, our recently launched developed nation road map 2013-23 Penang Paradigm blueprint has proposed that all future medium and high-cost developments should seek to be GBI-certified. GBI, or the Green Building Index, is the Malaysian industry-wide rating standard for sustainability in the construction sector which focuses not only on the impact of construction against the environment, but also on the management of energy and other resourcesof the building.

Today, governments as well as the private sector must not see environmental care as an additional cost to development. Rather, it should be seen as an investment. The competition to be the best must not be at the expense of Mother Earth because if the environment is damaged, there will be no winner in the end.

Hence, Penang is firmly committed towards the global effort to conserve the environment that is best exemplified by the work of those such as Dr Pachauri and the IPCC. Penang has in recent years participated in, among others, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Climate Change Networking Committee (Sept/Oct 2009), COP 16 in Cancún, Mexico (Dec 2010), the Gwangju Initiative at the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) World Congress in 2011 in Korea and the Gwangju Cities Declaration 2011. These international initiatives help to motivate and sustain our own efforts to build a Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Healthier Penang.

Sustainable development is a primary responsibility of good governance to prepare the future for the young.

Today, we are proud to forge an invaluable bond of friendship with Dr Pachauri and the IPCC. I am confident that his lecture today will further inspire us towards the greater mission to preserve our environment. I also hope that this lecture will mark the start of a new partnership between Dr Pachauri and the IPCC with the state of Penang.

Thank you.

This is one of the examples of how unregistered property managers are doing professional job unprofessionally. When we made a query on their qualifications, they scold thr ptofessionals. When the professional property managers do good job they reply that they can do better onlow fee. Malaysians have been cheated all the way by so called unregistered property managers who championed themselves as the right persons to manage.

The service center of politician is also a NGO. It made me laugh. The objective is clear. just to inflate the figure to 120. This is typical of YTL.What have the people named in the EXCo do except organizing dinners. Look at the problems faced by us where the service is almost non-existence, electricity and water supplies are not paid for years but he never took it up because David Lim is his boy. YB must help us to ensure that the owners should not be made to pay the TNB and Syabas debts
YTL has been doing thing like this all along. No one expose him. In actual fact he didn’t perform when he was he MP. He was only friendly to developers.

Suami mengamuk bakar tilam
Ketua Polis Daerah Marang, Deputi Superintendan Ahmad Mazlan

Krisis air Pahang semakin meruncing

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 02:24 AM PDT

Presiden Pas, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang

Hadir sama, Pesuruhjaya Pas negeri, Datuk Mahfodz Mohamed; Pengerusi PKR negeri, Datuk Chua Jui Meng dan Pengerusi DAP negeri, Dr Boo Cheng Hau.

Kita enggan masuk campur kerana ia urusan rumah tangga Umno, tetapi jika PR diberi peluang untuk menggantikan jawatan berkenaan, kita amat mengalu-alukannya," katanya.
