MEDIA STATEMENT BY HANNAHYEOH, ADUN SUBANG JAYA ON 21 APRIL 2012
I have been called in to beinvestigated by the police for the alleged crime of defamation after a policereport was lodged against me by MCA Kelana Jaya for what they claimed to be adefamatory article posted on my blog titled "MCA's recruitment drive forphantom voters?".

1.    Firstly, howis it possible that MCA can be defamed? In my opinion, one can only defameMCA if MCA has a good reputation to start with. MCA today is not worthy to bedefamed. Instead of providing an explanation as to why the Deputy Home Ministerwas soliciting for foreigners and permanent residents at a MCA program, MCA hasinexplicably made this to be an issue of defamation. MCA has admitted that 2000flyers were printed and distributed calling out to those who were applying forPR or citizenship to come out and meet Dato' Lee Chee Leong.

2.    As the Deputy Home Minister, he must explainas to why he was executing official duties and deploying government machinery at a political party's program? MCAhas admitted that they organised the program, printed, distributed those flyersand they intended to get foreigners and permanent residents to come out andmeet the Deputy Home Minister. The flyer seeks to impress upon the reader thatif you are applying for PR or citizenship, come to this MCA roadshow to meetthe Deputy Home Minister and he will help you. According to the Star report, MCAhas in fact admitted that they have 'helped' tens of thousands of people in thelast two years to become citizens. The Home Ministry worked hand in glove withMCA here, so who in their right mind will not equate this as a vote-buyingexercise? How is it that a political party can play a role in something ascritical as obtaining citizenship? What is the role of the NationalRegistration and Immigration departments? Has it been reduced to just paperworkwhile MCA, MIC and other BN parties do the actual screening, vetting andapprovals? This is a genuine matter ofnational security which warrants investigation but instead the police and theHome Ministry are more concerned with investigating whether I had defamed MCA.

3.    As the elected representative of the peopleof Subang Jaya, it is my duty to speakup for the people, to question and to hold the government of the dayaccountable. When did it become a crime to question MCA or the HomeMinistry? When did MCA become untouchable, unquestionable?

4.    If MCA and the Home Ministry are genuinelyconcerned about being defamed, then they should rightfully investigate others who have come out with claims and even evidenceof foreigners being made instant citizens in exchange for votes. Not just inPeninsular Malaysia but even more so in Sabah. Prove it to all Malaysians byalso investigating the son of the former Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Ghafar Babawho very recently made a public claim at a pre-Bersih rally that the country isbeing sold to foreigners for the sake of winning elections. Investigate him whois still an UMNO member and prove that this 1Malaysia administration does notpractice double-standards. The BN-controlled mainstream media defames PakatanRakyat politicians on a daily basis. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his familyhave been defamed in all ways possible. Lim Guan Eng and even his son have beendefamed with blatant lies by BN cybertroopers. The inaction and deafeningsilence of the Home Ministry and MCA on these blatant cases of defamationindicates that these acts are condoned by them. The hypocrisy displayed here issimply too obvious.

5.    Finally from this latest desperate act by MCAand the Home Ministry, we hear loud and clear the message that BN is sendingthat they are turning to foreigners forvotes and discounting Malaysians'. Last Sunday, the Deputy Home Ministerwent down to the ground to meet foreigners in Subang Jaya. On last Thursday,200 stateless Malaysians went to Parliament to obtain their rightfulcitizenship status but no government representative was present to meet them.If MCA and the Deputy Home Minister are genuinely interested in helping thepeople, why didn't they come out and help these stateless Malaysians? I alongwith the people of Malaysia hold MCA and the Home Ministry accountable for thistravesty of injustice which has been inflicted upon the good people of thiscountry.

Regrets Police Inaction During The Barbaric Attacks University Students Exercising Their Rights By Peacefully Assembling At Dataran Merdeka And Refusal By UMNO Ministers To Condemn These Shameful Attacks (en/bm/cn).

Posted: 20 Apr 2012 02:09 AM PDT

At around 2.45am yesterday morning, a bunch of thugs descended upon the group of university students peacefully assembling at Dataran Merdeka and assaulted them, resulting in one student ending up in hospital. Besides physically roughing the students up, the thugs also destroyed the tents that the students were camping in.

The group of student activists had been camping peacefully at Dataran Merdeka for 6 days now, in an attempt to exercise their democratic rights to protest against what they claim to be high interest rates and administrative charges imposed by the national educational loan fund (PTPTN).

The barbaric use of violence against peacefully assembling students has drawn immediate condemnation from all quarters, including human rights groups and Malaysians at large. Since when have thuggery and gangsterism become part of our culture? It is indeed a sad day when our children who are merely trying to express their democratic rights are victimised in such an ugly and violent manner.

Worse, reports have come in stating that policemen had been on duty in the area but had not intervened until the student leaders pleaded for help. And although they finally quelled the violent attacks, it was too little too late and most of the thugs had already left. In the end, only one person was apprehended.

When KualaLumpur Police Chief Mohmad Salleh was asked why only one out of a whole mob of attackers was nabbed, despite there being eyewitness videos to identify other attackers, he responded that "it was early in the morning and we could not differentiate the attackers from those already there."

This police inaction is similar to the incident at Speaker's Corner in Esplanade in Penang on 26 February when UMNO and Perkasa members behaved like thugs, violently attacking and injuring 2 reporters during an anti-Lynas rally. One of the reporters had to endure 8 stitches to close his injury. The policemen present just stood by and did not act to stop or arrest those involved in the barbaric attacks of UMNO and Perkasa members attacking peaceful anti-Lynas demonstrators and physically force the anti-Lynas demonstrators to leave. Up to now not a single person has been arrested by Penang police.

Regretfully, the police inaction were also seen in Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur by dragging their feet once again and not taking pro-active measures against what can only be described as a politically-motivated hate crime. To make matters worse, no UMNO Minister has spoken out to condemn the atrocious incident. Home Minister Dato' Seri Hishamuddin Hussein merely downplayed the incident and even claimed that it could be a deliberate attempt to stir up emotions.

Worse is the arrogant and inexcusable response by Higher EducationMinister Dato' Khaled Nordin, who as the minister responsible for universities and university students should have been protecting them instead of condoning such barbaric attacks. Dato' Khaled had tweeted: "No one asked them to camp out at Dataran Merdeka. When somethinghappens, don't go asking for sympathy."

Dato'Khaled's remarks in telling the hapless students not to "go asking for sympathy" when they had just been beaten up and abused for merely exercising their basic human and democratic rights is nothing short of sheer arrogance and a statement that is unbecoming of a minister.

DAP strongly condemns this incident as it is not only an attack on the sacred principles of human rights but also a blatant affront to Malaysian culture and values. DAP regrets police inaction during the barbaric attacks university students exercising their rights by peacefully assembling at Dataran Merdeka and shameful refusal by UMNO Ministers to condemn these attacks.

Lim Guan Eng

—–BM Version—

Dato’ Khaleed dalam twitter : "No one asked them to camp out at Dataran Merdeka. When somethinghappens, don't go asking for sympathy."

BERSIH TERUSKAN DUDUK BANTAH TANPA KEBENARAN DBKL

Posted: 20 Apr 2012 03:10 AM PDT

Dataran Merdeka dataran kita

Continuing from Anonymous (@11.41pm), could someone please highlight to us what was Martin Barrow’s contribution in the past when he was a board member that the MD saw it important to re-appoint him as an advisor now? If MAS really and I mean REALLY need a mat salleh on the board, I am pretty sure there are other more relevant and younger mat salleh who can inject fresh ideas to the board. Better still someone with airline background. But then again, is a mat salleh advisor really necessary? Does safety dept really need martin barrow’s expertise? I think Dr Ooi can do the job, and he has proven it. Of course Mr Martin loves to come to KL for meetings, apart from the travelling, he gets meeting fees and allowances right? And the right to bug the other staff.

Dear YB and all,

I heard Khazanah & Trio may present MAS 1Q result with some profits. A break-even is already good for them – rebound from a record breaking minus RM2.5b. Then, MoF will proudly say the business plan is working so why make noise? That will be used to justify CCF needs more time.

1. AA declared profit AFTER tax was bigger than BEFORE tax. Can the same trick applicable to MAS? Rozman did it at least twice for FY2007 & FY2008, read here;
http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/features/160402-corporate-airasia-applies-for-extension-of-tax-incentive.html

2. What is Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad (PMB) role in A380 and other new aircraft purchases?

3. Who is responsible to appoint an Advisor of a GLC?
I think, majority of rakyat already identified the most suitable candidate………….

Keranda simbolik bantah Lynas

Posted: 20 Apr 2012 07:15 AM PDT

Nik Amirulmu'Min Nik Min
20 April 2012

‘Kenapa serang aktivis tuntut mansuh PTPTN'

Posted: 19 Apr 2012 10:09 AM PDT

Nasrudin Hassan

Sekian.

In French Trial, The Resurrection of Altantuya Sharriibuu

Posted: 19 Apr 2012 09:45 PM PDT

Malaysia Chronicle

19th October 2006 is a day for Malaysians to take note of as it was when an innocent and allegedly pregnant woman was brutally murdered by 2 faceless murderers who are now facing a death sentence meted out on 9th April 2009.

It has been 3 years and the two former bodyguards of Prime Minister Najib Razak are still alive and kicking. Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 30 and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 35, are the two culprits locked up in the death row at Sungei Buloh prison. Though most Malaysians believe they pulled the trigger, the question remains – who ordered them to pull the trigger and gave them money for it?

Over in Paris, a court case is offering a glimmer of hope for redemption against the crass injustice shown by Malaysian authorities, who have stubbornly shut the door tight on the truth to protect the ‘powers that be’. Apart from the two cops, no one else is ‘touchable’ – from Najib himself to his wife Rosmah Mansor to his good friend Razak Baginda.

So, it is in France that Altantuya may at last get some justice from her Malaysian tormentor. It is a great irony indeed.

Blow the whistle on what’s really happening to Azhar and Sirul

In Sungei Buloh, how Najib’s former two bodyguards are really being treated is of great curiosity to their countrymen. Are they being given ‘perks’ such as being ‘free’ to walk out of jail to visit family and friends – just like the infamous Abdullah Ang case in Kajang prison?

One reason why there is such suspicion is the way the police behaved. They took extraordinary care to make sure these two men remained faceless right through the proceedings by allowing them to wear all sorts of ski masks and facial ‘vests’. Why? To shield their identity, of course! Why? Was it for a major cover up? It is indeed more likely than not.

After all, where else in the world are murderers given such extreme privilege to cover their identities. Malaysians say it makes them fume and hate the Attorney-General’s Chambers even more for turning their country’s High Court into a jester’s place.

If this is so, the Malaysian public should take steps to unmask the two murderers. Given the nature of their previous jobs as cops, they would have met a wide circle of people. There are many of you out there who have been in contact with these men in one way or other, either as friends, colleagues or classmates. Even the honest officers at the Prison, please blow the whistle. Please reveal the truth for the sake of Malaysia.

Upload some pictures on the Internet of these two despicable characters so that people can recognize them when they ‘walk out’ from prison to enjoy their freedom while Altantuya’s ashes stay on the K-I-V shelf in some authority’s office.

Given the way the trial was orchestrated by the Attorney General’s Chambers, no one will be surprised if the two men plus their masters go scot-free. But the last pleading cry of Altantuya’s ghost will always haunt them till they die. Their children will carry the ‘sins of the fathers’ for a lifetime. Is it worth it?

159 days of sham trial

Malaysians sat through the 159 days of sham trial, where the guilty and the accomplices were released without their witnesses being called. It was a trial where the court drama upstaged the verdict.

People who had absolute reasons to be charged were acquitted. Who can forget private investigator P Balasubramaniam’s Statutory Declaration? It was clear Najib’s close friend and aide Abdul Razak Baginda played a pivotal role in this saga.

Who was the mastermind of the murder? Can it just be Baginda, or were the real culprits his bosses? Can we ever forget the time when Baginda’s wife blurted angrily “My husband is not the one who wants to be Prime Minister”?.

These mysteries are jewels that will adorn the ghost of Altantuya until justice is served and her spirit freed to roam with God. And that can only be when there is a regime change, for a Malaysia under the current federal government would only get more corrupt and daring as its leaders escape time and time again for their crimes.

The agony of Altantuya’s father who wanted to give his daughter’s ashes a final burial must not be delayed any further. Dr Setev Shaariibuu and his family have already waited far too long, almost 3 years after her death due to an overly-delayed appeal process. Her remains are kept with the High Court as exhibits and the container is gathering dust. How long more do they want to keep her there?

This does not bode well for our Judiciary, which is controlled by one man, the Attorney General who in turn is controlled by several top men in Umno.

In France, trial begins and Najib and Zahid are on the witness list

They say the guilty will always fear. But why the fear when they all know that the ghost of Altantuya will not rest until justice is done. Setev’s recent visit to Malaysia and the interview he gave after offering himself as a witness in the Scorpene corruption case in France was an eye-opener.

His testimony directly implicating Prime Minister Najib Razak will “connect the dots” between his daughter’s murder and the bribery that allegedly took place in the acquisition of the submarines.

Human rights NGO Suaram has just a day ago successfully argued for its witness statement to be accepted before investigative judge Roger Le Loire in the Paris tribunal Grande Instance.

This means that the French court not only agreed that there was a need for a judicial investigation into the RM7 billion Scorpenes purchase but the judge also accepted Suaram’s proposed list of potential witnesses.

Guess who are on that red-hot list of witnesses – Najib and the current Defence minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi!

Malaysian Parliament failed their own citizens

“We told them we were filing the case because the Malaysian Parliament had failed to provide answers that we sought involving the purchase of the submarines,” said Suaram director Cynthia Gabriel.

“We also mentioned that we were unable to seek answers to the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu and the failure of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate our complaints.”

According to Suaram lawyer Joseph Breham, the investigations on the French side have so far provided sufficient evidence to suspect that ‘specific’ Malaysian officials did take ‘bribes’ or kickbacks from Scorpenes vendor DCN – which is illegal under the French law.

“For us to arrive at this stage of the hearing is a gigantic step in the pursuit of the Scorpene’s commissions,” said Breham.

No fury like Altantuya’s

So, in raking through these details will be the resurrection of Altantuya, and she – through her father’s recollection – will personally avenge her brutal murder.

Of course, this will send shivers down to the spines of Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor. Yes, the cat is out of the bag. The ‘first’ couple have already sent their lawyer off to Paris to look after their interest.

And it is wise they hurry to consolidate their position by whatever means they can because “Hell hath no fury like a resurrected Altantuya.”

Hakim Perancis Terima Saksi Suaram

Malaysiakini

Peguam Perancis William Bourdon and Joseph Breham bertindak bagi pihak Suaram.
